11/5/2009

PORTLAND, Ore. – Homestead Capital, a nonprofit equity provider for affordable housing projects in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Utah, recently added two new Board Members: Trond Ingvaldsen, Senior Vice President with ScanlanKemperBard Companies; and Steven Graham, President of the Utah Community Reinvestment Corporation.

Trond Ingvaldsen currently manages a real estate portfolio for ScanlanKemperBard Companies. He was previously an executive of The Standard, a financial services company headquartered in Portland, Oregon, where he worked for 23 years. Mr. Ingvaldsen was responsible for corporate real estate and facilities, corporate leases, and investment real estate, including a portfolio of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit investments, of which Homestead Capital was a partner. Mr. Ingvaldsen serves on the Board of Directors of the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, is a former Board President of the Portland Children’s Museum, former Board Chair of Portland Downtown Services, Inc., and a former Board Member of the Portland Business Alliance.

Mr. Ingvaldsen commented on his joining the Board saying, “I’ve been involved with Homestead Capital as an investment partner since its inception in 1993, and have seen it develop into the reputable organization it is today. I’m excited to join the Board of Directors and assist Homestead with furthering its mission of housing people and building communities.”

Steven Graham has been a Utah resident since 1990, and has been involved in advancing affordable housing throughout the State since 1994. For almost a decade he has served as President of the Utah Community Reinvestment Corporation, a non-profit lending consortium of Utah banks, overseeing the funding of $87 million to 71 developments financing over 3,100 affordable housing units. Previously, Mr. Graham administered the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program for the Utah Housing Corporation, where he developed and administered the nationally award winning CROWN lease-to-own program, producing 35 single family homes annually in Utah. Mr. Graham has served in the U.S. Peace Corps, and on the Boards of the Salt Lake Valley Habitat for Humanity, St. Catherine’s of Sienna, Olene Walker Housing Trust Fund, and Family Promise-Salt Lake, for which he currently serves as President.

Upon his acceptance to the Board, Mr. Graham said, “I very much look forward to working to help Homestead Capital continue its success in supporting affordable housing efforts in our communities. I have experienced the professionalism that is Homestead as we previously worked together to preserve housing in rural Utah. I continue to see good work coming from this organization and am honored and happy to join the effort. ”

Established in 1993, Homestead Capital has raised over $450 million to build more than 5,000 units of affordable housing for low-income people in the West. Homestead Capital works with communities to identify affordable housing needs and brings together developers and investors (banks, insurance companies and other corporations) to create housing through the federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program established by Congress.
